Belediye Hamamı in Kuşadası – the soul of a Turkish bath!
Steam baths in Turkey have a thousand-year history, dating back to the Romans, but they flourished during the Ottoman Empire. Because Islam places great emphasis on cleanliness, baths became more than just a place for hygiene, but a center for socializing, relaxation, and wellness.
Belediye Hamamı in KusadasiBuilt in 1495, it is one of the oldest baths in Western Turkey. It still functions, preserving its authentic atmosphere and original interior elements.
What awaits you:
- Exfoliating your body with a traditional glove will leave your skin smooth and your pores clean.
- Soap massage with olive soap: rich foam, warm movements – a feeling of renewal and relaxation.
- The end is a shower, a Turkish towel and a cup of aromatic apple tea “Elma Chayi”.
The treatment lasts about an hour and can be done at any time of day—before or after tanning. It's more than just a body treatment; it's an immersion into an ancient tradition.
Belediye Hamamı is the only authentic Turkish bath in the region. Treat yourself: you'll emerge feeling clean and refreshed.

Reviews - Turkish Bath: Hammam in Kusadasi
If you're looking for something "real," this is the place for you. Not a fancy spa, but a real, good old hammam. A true gem. Don't be put off by the building's modest exterior; it's worth a visit.
Impeccable quality, thank you. She does a soap massage, her gaze is kind and welcoming. Then a specialist, probably a physiotherapist or osteopath, does an oil massage, the professionalism is top notch. I recommend this place.
I went to Kusadasi with a friend and wanted to experience the authentic Turkish atmosphere, so we decided to visit a hammam. We were lucky to discover this place, as it offers everything a passing traveler could want in an authentic experience!
The atmosphere is wonderful, very traditional. It's amazing that this place is so old! It's within walking distance, as it's located in the old town.
A wonderful traditional hammam with very friendly and helpful owners. Everything was arranged via WhatsApp. We were picked up at the cruise port and dropped off free of charge. The owner met us at the pier. Upon arrival, we were shown around and given a private changing room and locker. We both used the sauna, followed by a body scrub, soap baths, and then separate his-and-hers treatments... a head and face shave for me, followed by a full-body oil massage. Everything was very professional and relaxing. At the end, we were greeted with a glass of Turkish tea at the entrance, even though the cruise port was only a two-minute walk away. An exceptional and authentic experience. I felt 20 years younger!!
This is a historic hamam in Kusadasi. It's very beautiful inside and generally clean. I booked the hamam without the oil massage, and that wasn't a problem. It's a mixed-use bath, but there was a small area reserved for one person.
My massage therapist was Mehmet, he was very good. He's a true professional. The body scrub and foam massage were excellent, and I felt great afterwards.
The changing rooms were good, and there was convenient storage for personal belongings. There are Western-style toilets, which is very convenient.
After the hammam I was served apple tea (Elmer Chai), which was very refreshing.
I recommend trying this historical hamam in Kusadasi.
